Its winter, and for people living in regions where winter is severe with cold, rains, fog, and snowfall, here is what you will be looking for: coping with winter, managing your kitchen, and of course some personal care. You have landed at the right page to get all the essential ideas. It is a climate that everyone eagerly waits for throughout the year to come up because it is when we have celebrations following from Thanksgiving and Christmas to the new year. So, there is a reason that is always there for us to go out and have some fun. But season change shouldn’t be a reason to hinder your happy moments. Here are a few basic winter care routines for all the mothers out there. Don’t sit at home; make yourself comfortable and go out and add some flavour to your life.☺ 1.Apparel care Whenever you step out of the house, remember to cover yourself and your child well with a sweater or jacket. Make sure you wrap a scarf around your neck to protect from the breeze. Use boots or shoes combined with socks to protect your legs from the cold. The most important part you forget is to cover the head. Correct, I often see people missing their head caps, and later they blame the weather for the cold and cough. Complement your look with a head cap or hoodie to make a statement, and at the same time, you are saving yourself from the cold breeze. Ensure you invest in buying good-quality winter wear. 2. Skincare Now moving on to the skincare Always wash your face with warm water. Apply a moisturiser that suits your skin. Apply lip balm that suits you and apply a good-quality winter care cream to avoid dryness. Apply moisturising cream or lotion to your hands and legs, rub, and massage in a circular motion to prevent dryness. 3. The winter foods My favourite segment, I don’t have to explain, because you all know that I write the recipe blog, and being a food lover, winter allows me to cook more. Yes, you need to cook and have warm food. Soup is a very good option to start with. For vegetarians, a clear vegetable soup with crushed black pepper as a topping and a chicken or mutton soup are perfect. For non-vegetarians, you are ready to enjoy the beautiful weather. Include soups regularly in your meal. 4. Rasam, the evergreen home dish Exactly what our mothers and grandmothers would suggest to us. The rasam serves as an excellent dish during the winter. With the many varieties of rasam, the miriyalu/milagu rasam prepared with pepper is a definite must-try. It acts as therapy and builds the warmth from within to cope with the evening-to-night transition of the breeze. Flavour your lunches with the evergreen rasam. 5. Treat your taste buds with some snacks. Yes, crunchy pakoras and samosa accompanied by a hot plain black tea or milk tea is a good combination to try out in the winter, especially when it rains. Post-rain, you can occasionally treat taste buds with some cake as Christmas and the new year are around the corner. 6. Candles as delights It’s time to keep up the room temperature to protect us from the cold exterior weather. Room heaters are a must, and you might make use of the fragrance candles that are easily available in supermarkets near you. It will not just provide warmth; it will also add a feel-good aura in the late evenings. With many colours, shapes, and fragrant varieties available in the market, pick the right candle that suits you. Candles also serve as decorative items to enhance the look and feel of your home. 7. Flavour with Fruits Remember to include a good portion of fruits to maintain the pH balance of your body. Some of the fruits that you can have during this season are orange, pear, dates, papaya, and grapefruit. (Just a few suggestions.) Enjoy your winter in style; stay healthy and fit. Happy winter to all!
